Barcelona Wine Bar, located not too far away, serves an excellent assortment of tapas like eggplant caponata, patatas bravas, and steak paillard marinated in peppery vinaigrette. Try some authentic Mexican dishes and margaritas at Cantina Los Caballitos. And for those who love a Philly cheesesteak, welcome! In Passyunk (and all of Philly!), the Pat’s-Geno’s cheesesteak battle has been raging for years. Pat’s is considered the “original” cheesesteak joint, when in 1930, owner Pat Olivieri created the first cheesesteak by combining ribeye steak with chopped grilled onions on a hotdog stand located at 9th and Passyunk. Later, Joey Vento opened Geno’s across the street, where the meat is cooked in thicker cubes, then chopped on the grill, rather than sliced. Come try the cheesesteaks for yourself and decide which one you like best!
