Northern Liberties is located directly north of Old City. The fast-developing area is one of Philadelphia's River Wards (Fishtown, Kensington, and Port Richmond being the others). It is bounded by N. 6th Street to the west, Callowhill Street to the south, and Girard Avenue to the north, as well as the Delaware River to the east.
